Afrique Aya is a group of dancers and drummers commited to sharing the music and culture of West Africa. Inspired by rhythms and rituals from Ivory Coast, Afrique Aya celebrates the synergy of nature, spirit, movement and percussion.

West Africa, dancing and drumming are catalysts for bringing people together with rich traditions of stories passed down. Through performances and workshops, Afrique Aya hopes to connect communities with earth based movements rooted in lyrics, expressing vibrant stories common to all people.

Afrique Aya offers performances, workshops and residencies to all of Arkansas and the United States. Director Yao Angelo also offers weekly classes open to the public for all ages. A cultural exchange trip to West Africa is offered by Yao Angelo.
